Bruce and I grew up together one street apart right near East Leyden --- Bruce on Nichols St., me on Davis St. Our families were close. He was a fun kid. We were both rabid Cubs fans, and we attended around 30-40 games at Wrigley Field each year in the summers of 1968 and 1969. Immediately after EL graduation in 1970, I was invited to go with the Turners on a month-long camping trip with their Coleman pop-up camper all over the West. We headed to New Mexico, to Arizona, up Cali from San Diego-to-LA-to-San Fran, back through Lake Tahoe, Wyoming, Colorado, etc. A wonderful memory and a great opportunity to see so much of the country at such a young age.
We lost touch, and I tried many times to reconnect but kept hitting dead-ends. I was shocked when his sister, Donna, reported his death last July. RIP, buddy --- wish I could have found you before the end.
